Donald Horton even bought a Special Magistrate in South Carolina.  Coltrane trounced First Amendment Speech in Beaufort County stating that D R Horton's financial interests were more important than consumers warning their neighbors that D R Horton builds defective homes or sells them on land which is misrepresented as a "golf course community." The Beaufort County bench informed this webmaster that he is no longer in state service, nor practicing law.  Thats code for consent agreement to never again injure the public with corrupt rulings.

The number of state and federal court filings against D R Horton is astounding.  Many claim the same fraud, namely that DHI baits and switches lending terms and then forfeits/steals consumers' money when they elect to not sign on the radically inflated bottom line. Other claims are that DHI withholds pay, illegally uses buiding licenses and intentionally builds defective homes to save money.D R Horton keeps on getting away with their RICO though.  Expensive procedural tactics like evasive answers, discovery abuses, frivolous motions, Protective Orders to Seal documents, claims of non receipt of documents, false claims of jurisdiction...... are routinely used so that they can then go on to create additional foreclosures to use up those TARP funds.
